About Hailsham, East Sussex
Welcome to Hailsham, a charming market town nestled in the heart of East Sussex, where Hallmark Glazed Extensions proudly calls home. Known for its rich history and vibrant community spirit, Hailsham offers a unique blend of heritage and modern living.
The town is home to iconic landmarks such as the Hailsham Pavilion, a Grade II listed cinema and theatre built in 1921. This cultural hub continues to host films, live performances, and events, keeping Hailsham connected to its artistic roots. The town’s history also includes the former Hailsham railway station, part of the Cuckoo Line, which closed in 1968. Today, the route has been transformed into the Cuckoo Trail, a scenic 14-mile path for walkers and cyclists. Hailsham’s heritage is further reflected in its historic buildings, including our office in The Town House, a beautiful Grade II listed property from the early 19th century, which has witnessed centuries of local life and architectural evolution.
Hailsham has been home to several notable figures. Fanny Cradock, the renowned TV chef, brought her culinary flair to British screens in the 1960s. Peter Grant, the legendary manager of Led Zeppelin, lived here and shaped the music industry in the 1970s. Even Cardinal Wolsey, a key advisor to King Henry VIII, who lived at The Stone, Hailsham, possibly the town’s oldest house.
