Average Price of an Orangery

Many people may be dreaming of a new orangery for their property, but they may not know how much they cost exactly or what to look for.

What Is The Average Price Of An Orangery?

There is an abundance of prices online, but when it comes to home extensions, it is always important to look for the best quality, and not just the cheapest option available out there. In this blog, we will be discussing the average price of an orangery from Hallmark Glazed Extensions.

Our Estimated Price Range
There is no easy answer for an exact price, since all of our orangeries and conservatories are bespoke and designed in all shapes, sizes and frame materials so the price can vary. On average, however, realistic pricing is in the region of £65,000 - £80,000 including VAT, depending on various factors. This includes all the costs connected to building work such as base and brickwork, electrical requirements, underfloor home heating as well as floor covering choices.

But what exactly affects the price?

Materials

The choice of frame materials used within an orangery, or conservatory, will most definitely affect the price. Here at Hallmark, we offer our glazed extensions in either Aluminium, Hardwood, or uPVC. However, finishing touches such as flooring could also affect the price, such as if you opt for Stone, Porcelain Tiles, Engineered Wood, Ceramic Tiles, Vinyl or Laminate. Along with the option of roof vents, underfloor heating or electronic blinds.

As a rule of thumb, our painted hardwood extensions are in the region of £4500 per metre squared including VAT, with Aluminium at £3800 and uPVC at £3400. This includes all associated building work and specialist planning or building regs fees.

Windows, Doors and Roof Lanterns

Depending on how many windows, doors and roof lanterns you want to be specced in your extension design, your price may change as well. Generally, it will cost more depending on the size of the roof lantern, as well as how many doors and windows, however, this may also go hand in hand with a larger design.

The style of windows and doors can also change the price. For example, french doors will cost less than sliding patio doors or bi-fold doors. The preference should be made on design consideration and function rather than price alone.

How Large Will The Extension Be?

The size of the extension will affect the overall price. Generally the larger the extension, the more it will cost, due to requiring more materials, more time to design, and more time to construct. Typically, planning permission is not required when extending up to 6 metres for semi-detached/terraced houses and 8 metres for detached properties.

Other Aspects That Affect Price

There are many other aspects that can affect the price of orangeries and conservatories, such as purpose and functionality, aesthetics and technical considerations of your new living space. However, it is always best to speak to our design consultants to get an accurate quote for your extension.
